Withdrawal
Place the vehicle on a lift and perform the following operations on both sides of the vehicle:
- unscrew the wheel bolts;
- unscrew the wheel hub nut without lifting the car;
- hang the front of the car and remove the front wheel;
- unscrew the bolts securing the inner joint of the shaft to the flange of the output shaft of the differential;
- disconnect the wheel drive shaft from the differential;
- press the spline part of the drive from the wheel hub using a wheel hub puller type VAG 1369;
- remove the wheel drive.

Note. On vehicles with automatic transmission, also remove the two anti-roll bar mounting cups and the tie bolt of the front suspension arm ball joint pin to steering knuckle terminal connection. Separate the front suspension arm from the steering knuckle.
Warning. If the vehicle needs to be moved after removing the wheel drive, replace the drive with an outer joint to prevent damage to the wheel bearing.
Installation
Install the wheel drive in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following -
- replace inner constant velocity joint (excluding vehicles with engine models «DR» And «DS»);
- clean the splines of the shank of the outer joint and the wheel hub;
- apply special glue to the splined shank of the outer joint (For example «D6») at a distance of 5 mm to the installation of the wheel drive.
Warning. Let the adhesive dry for at least 60 minutes.
