Fuel filler neck ground contact

Make sure that there is fluid on the threaded connections "1" and "2" of the fuel filler neck. there is no corrosion on the tank, as this could affect the quality of contact with the body ground. Risk of damage from high-pressure fuel. Disconnect the right front fuel tank. fuel tank line "1" by pressing the release button. If available, disconnect the fuel line to the independent heater and the electrical connector to the metering pump.

Disconnect the left ventilation line "1" from the activated carbon absorber by pressing the release button.

To maintain balance, place the engine and gearbox bracket under the fuel tank. Support the fuel tank. tank with engine and gearbox lift.

Installation

Fuel delivery module and fuel level sensor

Checking the fuel electrical system. pump

To prevent a large amount of fuel from leaking when removing the flange, the fuel tank should be no more than 1/4 full. Loosen the union nut with a T40068 A "arrow" union nut wrench. When loosening the union nut, the plastic retainer on the threaded ring will break off; ignore this.

Cover the fuel hole. tank with clean cardboard "1" to avoid contamination. Unscrew the arrow bolts.

Remove the fuel control unit. tank "J538" pos. 1-, located between the fuel tank and the bottom of the car. Disconnect the plug connector and remove the fuel control unit. pump.

Installation
Installation in reverse order. Replace the sealing cuff and union nut. Install the fuel control unit. pump "J538" in the mounting position and tighten the bolts. Insert your left hand into union nut "1" and, using the same hand, firmly install flange "2" into the "arrow" mounting position. Cover plate "4" on the blind flange should be positioned between tongues "3" and "5" on the threaded ring.

Insert the union nut "1" into the left hand, holding the nut with the right hand, and press firmly on the flange "2" with the left hand "arrow". Then the union nut will enter the threaded nipple "4" more easily.

Press firmly on the flange downwards "arrow". With the right hand, turn the union nut 480° so that the double rib "1" is in the "2 o'clock position", while pressing firmly on the flange downwards with the left hand.

Danger of leakage of threaded flange connection. When tightening the union nut, apply firm pressure to the flange to prevent it from turning. Tighten the flange union nut with the T40068 A union nut wrench.

Check: Double jumper "1" should be in the "position between 7 and 8 o'clock".

Connect fuel. highways "1" and "2". Connect the plug connectors. Install the flange cover. Install the rear seat.

Connect the battery, observing the precautions after connecting the battery. Vehicles with independent heating: bleed the fuel supply. highways.
Removal and installation the fuel delivery module
If necessary, pump out fuel from the fuel tank. tank. If necessary, move the front passenger seat as far forward as possible. Follow the instructions for disconnecting the battery. To relieve pressure in the fuel. place a clean cloth around the connector and carefully loosen the connection. Disconnect the fuel. line "2" from the flange by pressing the release button. Disconnect the fuel. line "1" from the independent heater metering pump by pressing the release button.

Loosen the union nut with the T40068 A "arrow" union nut wrench. When loosening the union nut, the plastic clip on the threaded ring will break off. Ignore this.

Remove flange "2" with fuel filter from fuel. tank and tilt it slightly toward the left side of the vehicle. Remove gasket "1". Do not completely remove the flange with the fuel filter from the fuel delivery module "arrow A". At the same time, remove the flange with the fuel filter from the fuel. tank "arrows B", while monitoring the correct position of the mounting plate with the ground connection "3" and the position of the fuel. highway "4".

Do not completely remove the flange "2" from the fuel filter on the fuel delivery module "1" "arrow A". Tilt the fuel delivery module to the left side of the vehicle "arrow B" and do not completely remove it from the fuel. tank. When removing the fuel delivery module, make sure that the float of the fuel level sensor "G" does not bend. Remove the fuel level sensor "G" "pos. 3" from the fuel hole. tank and remove the fuel supply module with the suction line from the fuel. tank.

Installation
Installation in reverse order. Replace the sealing cuff and union nut. When installing the fuel delivery module, make sure that the fuel level sensor float "G" is not bent. Do not completely remove the flange "2" from the fuel filter on the fuel delivery module "1" "arrow A". Tilt the fuel delivery module to the left side of the vehicle and insert it into the fuel. tank "arrow B", while monitoring the correct position of the fuel level sensor "3".

Do not completely remove flange "2" with the fuel filter from the fuel delivery module "arrow A". At the same time, insert the flange with the fuel filter into the fuel. tank "arrows B", while monitoring the correct position of the mounting plate with the ground connection "3" and the position of the fuel. line "4". Install the new sealing cuff "1" over the flange and insert it into the groove on the fuel. tank.

Insert your left hand into union nut "1" and, using the same hand, firmly install flange "2" into the "arrow" mounting position. Cover plate "4" on the blind flange should be positioned between tongues "3" and "5" on the threaded ring.

Insert the union nut "1" into the left hand, holding the nut with the right hand, and press firmly on the flange "2" with the left hand "arrow".
