Warning: The parking brake cable must not be under tension when adjusting.
Cars without body position regulator
Use a screwdriver to press the parking brake cable lever against the stop.
The arrow shows the parking brake cable lever
If the parking brake cable lever of the opposite wheel comes off the stop, it means that the parking brake cable was over-tightened.
In this case, loosen the cable equalizer adjusting nut so that both cable drive levers only lightly rest on the stops.
Insert a screwdriver with a diameter of at least 6 mm between the pressure regulator spring and the bracket that mounts it to the body.
With the engine not running, press the brake pedal approximately 40 times, applying medium force.
After this, check if the rear wheels rotate freely.
Cars with body position regulator
Perform the same operations as on vehicles without a body position adjuster before adjusting the cable tension with the equalizer nut, then do the following:
- put the car on its wheels;
- let the engine idle for 2 minutes;
- stop the engine and press the brake pedal with medium force approximately 40 times in a row;
- check that both rear wheels rotate freely.
