When storing, the pushers should not be installed with their contact surface facing down.
The tappets are always replaced as a set, since they cannot be adjusted or repaired.
The noise from the valves when starting the engine should be normal. If it is too loud, the tappets can be checked as follows:
Start the engine and let it run until the fan comes on.
Let the engine run for approximately 2 minutes at 2500 rpm.
If the tappets are still making noise, you will need to locate the faulty tappet, remove the cylinder head cover and rotate the camshaft so that the cam of the tappet being tested points upward.
Push the plunger (2) down with a wooden or plastic object (1). If the gap is more than 0.2 mm before the valve opens, a new plunger must be installed.
After installing new tappets, the engine should not be started for approximately 30 minutes to allow the tappets to settle into place. Otherwise, the valves may strike the pistons.
