Raise and securely support the vehicle.
Raise the wheel suspension slightly with a jack so that the wheel suspension is not completely under the spring force.
Only for vehicles with ride height adjustment: Attach a hose to the air bleed valve of the separator and lower it into an empty container. Open the valve to release pressure from the ride height adjustment pressure accumulator.
After closing the air bleed valve, you can unscrew the pipeline to the shock absorber strut. No dirt should get into the hydraulic system!
Loosen the lower shock absorber mount.
Unscrew the upper mounting nuts and remove the rack.
When installing the upper shock absorber strut nuts, tighten them to 20 Nm. For the lower shock absorber strut mount, use a new self-locking nut and tighten it to 90 Nm. To do this, the car must be on its wheels, otherwise the rubber-metal support will be compressed.

To remove the rear shock absorber strut, you need to unscrew the 3 mounting nuts (white arrows) at the top in the wheel well. Spring compression brackets (black arrows) are used to separate the spring from the shock absorber when the shock absorber strut is removed.
