Remove wheel.
Raise and support the vehicle securely.
Raise the wheel suspension slightly with a jack so that the wheel suspension is not fully under spring force.
Vehicles with ride height adjustment only: Place a hose on the separator bleed valve and lower it into an empty container. Open the valve to bleed off the pressure accumulator of the ride height control system.
After closing the valve to remove air, you can unscrew the pipeline to the spring strut. Dirt must not enter the hydraulic system!
Loosen the lower suspension strut mount.
Unscrew the top mounting nuts and remove the rack.
When installing the upper suspension strut nuts, tighten them to 20 Nm. A new self-locking nut must be used for the lower mounting of the suspension strut and tightened to 90 Nm. To do this, it is necessary that the car is on wheels, otherwise the rubber-metal support will be compressed.
To remove the rear suspension strut, unscrew the 3 fastening nuts (white arrows) at the top of the wheel well. Clamps for spring compression (black arrows) are used to separate the spring from the shock absorber with the suspension strut removed.
