Adviсe
Brake fluid is poisonous. Therefore, it should not get into the mouth.
Brake fluid is corrosive to bodywork Do not place brake fluid-soaked rags or brake fluid-stained tools on body parts.
When removing the brake hose or brake pipe, brake fluid gradually flows out of the reservoir. You can prevent this in the following way: before removing the bolted connections, loosen the bleed valve in the corresponding circuit. Put a hose on it and direct it into some container. Now fully depress the brake pedal and secure with a suitable plank in this position. This closes the drain holes in the brake master cylinder so no more brake fluid flows out.
To remove and install the brake pipe, you need to get the brake pipe wrench shown in the illustration below. You will also need an open end wrench to hold the brake hoses.
After repairing the hydraulic brake system, it must be pumped. It is often enough to bleed only the brake circuit in which the work was carried out.
Removing the brake line
Unscrew the union of the brake pipe. To do this, it is necessary to hold the opposite connection nut - for example, at the brake hose.
If the nut has rusted to the tube causing it to rotate with the nut, the tube must be replaced. Thin-walled tubes break quickly.
If the corresponding piece of tubing has to be replaced, the following technique can be used to loosen the pipe connection:
If the brake piping (3) and brake lines (1) with stamped fasteners (4) connected to the chassis or the bodywork, a spring-loaded hose holder must not be missing (2).
In the illustration, the connection is loosened with an open-end wrench and a wrench for the brake pipe (on right).
Removing the brake hoses
Saw off the brake pipe near the bolted connection, unscrew the union nut with a hexagon socket.
Insert the brake pipe into the holders.
Bleed the brake system.
First unscrew the union of the respective brake line. When doing this, make sure that the pipeline is not twisted.
If the brake hose is fixed to the body with a stamped holder, it is protected from slipping by a sheet clip. During assembly, this so-called hose holder must be installed.
When installing the hose, it must first be screwed on at the end that has an external thread.
Then tighten the other thread.
The brake hose must not be kinked. For control, a colored strip or a rubber side is used.
Bleed the brake system.
Immediately after the repair, check if the hose is rubbing somewhere during springy movements.
Repeat this test after a relatively long drive.
