Order of execution
1. Disconnect wire from «negative» battery terminals.
2. Remove air filter (cm. subsection 6.1.2).
3. Loosen the upper gearbox-to-engine bolts.
4. Disconnect the speedometer cable from the transmission.
5. Drive the clutch slave cylinder pin out of the clutch housing.
6. Remove the clutch slave cylinder and set it aside without disconnecting the hose from it.
7. Raise the power unit slightly with a hoist or winch.
8. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold and transmission bracket.
9. Remove the heat-insulating shield of the cover of the inner CV joint of the right axle shaft.
10. Loosen the mounting bolts and disconnect the front wheel drives from the axle shaft flanges.
11. Disconnect electrical wires from gearbox.
12. Remove the locating rod from the two ball studs.
13. Disconnect the gearshift linkage from the ball stud on the gear lever.
14. Remove the spring clip and disconnect the torque rod from the pin on the gearbox.
15. Loosen the lower clutch housing bolts and remove the clutch housing cover.
16. Remove the heat shields from the front suspension beam.
17. Raise the gearbox a little.
18. Unscrew the nuts of the bolts securing the box brackets to the front suspension beam.
19. Unscrew the fastening nut and remove the right gearbox bracket.
20. Move the gearbox carefully backward, disengaging its input shaft from the clutch. Then lower the gearbox and remove it from under the car.
21. Install gearbox in reverse order. Before installation, clean and lubricate the splines of the input shaft with graphite grease, and also place the inner ends of the axle shafts on the front suspension beam.
