Visual inspection of gearbox tightness (Audi A8 D2)

Gearbox oil leaks may occur:

• at the point where the drive shafts are connected to the gearbox;
• near the oil drain plug;
• near the oil filler cap.

To locate the oil leak, follow these steps:

• clean the gearbox housing;
• cover potential leaks with a thin layer of chalk or talc;
• take a test drive of about 30 km;
• raise the car on a lift or place it on an inspection pit and determine the location of the leak by the oil leaks.

Fix the leak and fill the gearbox with oil.
