Execution order
1. Remove the cylinder head (see pp. 1–12 of subsection 3.2.2).
2. Unscrew bolt 12 (see fig. Cylinder head, camshaft and valves) and remove gear wheel 11 from camshaft 18. Remove key 14.
3. Loosen one of the nuts of the bearing cover No.2 by two turns, counting from the camshaft drive, then loosen the diagonally opposite nut of bearing No.4 by two turns. Loosen the other nut of bearing No.2 and bearing No.4 by two turns. Loosen the nuts in the order specified until they are completely loose.
4. Similarly, unscrew the nuts of bearings No.1 and 3.
5. Remove 15 bearing caps.
6. Remove camshaft 18
7. Remove oil seal 13.
8. Remove the 19 valve tappets, having previously marked them with the valve number. If the valve drive has adjusting washers, then each washer should be stored with its tappet. Hydraulic tappets are stored upside down.
9. Inspection and defect detection of the camshaft and hydraulic tappets are carried out in the same way as on a four-cylinder engine (see subsection 3.1.2.3, subsection 3.1.2.4).
