Order of execution
1. Position the vehicle over a pit so that the engine is under a hoist or other similar device with a lifting capacity of at least 300 kg.
2. Disconnect wire from «negative» battery terminals located in a waterproof casing on the right (on vehicles equipped with air conditioning, the battery is located under the rear seat).
3. Remove the hood (see pp. 1-6 subsection 11.3).
4. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose from the thermostat housing, remove the cap from the expansion tank and drain the coolant (cm. pp. 1–3 subsections 4.1).
5. Unscrew the drain plugs in the engine crankcase and gearbox housing and drain the oil.
6. Unscrew the drain plugs in the engine crankcase and gearbox housing and drain the oil.
7. Disconnect the electrical wires from the blower switch and from the cooling fan.
8. Remove radiator (cm. pp. 3–9 subsection 4.6).
9. Disconnect the fuel supply and return hoses from the fuel pump (see clause 2 of subsection 6.1.5).
10. Disconnect the wires from the components and elements of electrical equipment installed on the engine.
11. Disconnect the vacuum hoses and control cables from the carburetor.
12. Remove air filter (see pp. 1-6 subsection 6.1.2).
13. On vehicles with air conditioning, remove the compressor without disconnecting the hoses and secure it with wire to the body.
14. On vehicles with power steering, remove the pump without disconnecting the hoses and secure it with wire to the body.
15. Remove the heat shield from the right engine mount.
16. Disconnect the muffler downpipe from the exhaust manifold flange (see clause 1 of subsection 5.1).
17. Slightly loosen the right engine mount bracket nut.
18. Remove starter (see pp. 1–3 subsections 12.1.4.1).
19. Disconnect muffler downpipe from transmission bracket.
20. Loosen lower gearbox-to-engine bolts.
21. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the lower part of the clutch housing.
22. Slightly loosen the left engine mount bracket nut.
23. On vehicles with automatic transmission, remove the torque converter mounting bolts.
24. Place a jack or other suitable support under the gearbox.
25. Loosen the gearbox-to-engine bolts.
26. Disconnect wire «masses» engine.
27. Check that all hoses and electrical wires are disconnected from the engine.
28. Remove the nuts securing the left and right engine brackets and hang the engine using a hoist.
29. Remove engine mount brackets.
30. Remove the engine from the engine compartment. On vehicles with automatic transmission, secure the torque converter in the clutch housing so that it does not fall out.
31. Install the engine in reverse order. On vehicles with a manual transmission, apply a thin layer of grease to the splines of the transmission input shaft before installing the engine.
