Fuel system of the 1.9L engine

  • 1 - fuel pump;
  • 2 - fuel pump mounting bolt;
  • 3 - washer;
  • 4 - gasket;
  • 5 - heat-insulating gasket;
  • 6 - fuel supply hose to the carburetor;
  • 7 - tank bracket;
  • 8 - reservoir;
  • 9 - "mass" wire;
  • 10 - clamp;
  • 11 - hose from the tank to the pressure regulating valve;
  • 12 - Fuel return drain hose;
  • 13 - valve;
  • 14 - hose from the tee to the tank;
  • 15 - tee;
  • 16 - hose from the tee to the pressure regulating valve;
  • 17 - pressure regulating valve bracket;
  • 18 - pressure regulating valve;

  • 6 - fuel tank cap;
  • 7 - sealing ring;
  • 8 - filler neck seal;
  • 9 - fuel tank ventilation hose;
  • 10 - filler pipe;
  • 11 - valve;
  • 12 - clamp;
  • 13 - connecting pipe;
  • 14 - sealing ring;
  • 15 - retainer;
  • 16 - fuel level sensor;
  • 17 - hose from the fuel line to the fuel filter;
  • 18 - fuel filter;
  • 19 - hose from filter to pump;
  • 20 - fuel pump;
  • 21 - sealing ring;
  • 22 - gasket;
  • 23 - hose from pump to reservoir;
  • 24 - fuel tank;
  • 25 - hose to the return drain pipe;
  • 26 - hose from the reservoir to the carburetor;
  • 27 - carburetor

The fuel pump has a non-separable design; in case of failure it is replaced.



Execution order



1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Loosen the clamps (see Fig. Fuel system of the 1.9L engine) and remove hoses (20) and (22) or (19) and (23) (see Fig. Fuel system of the 1.8L engine) from the pump (1) (1.9L engine) or (20) (1.8L engine). Plug the hoses to prevent fuel leakage.

3. Unscrew the two bolts and remove the pump (1) (1.9L engine) or (20) (1.8L engine). To check whether the pump is working properly, connect the hose (22) to it and press the pump drive lever several times. If fuel splashes out of the pump when you press the lever, then the pump is working properly.

4. Install the pump in the reverse order. When installing the pump, replace the gasket (see Fig. Fuel system of the 1.9L engine).
