The fuel tank in the Audi A4 quattro is a small marvel of engineering. Here the fuel tank is photographed from below with the rear axle dismantled. In this photo, wherever they are, they are shown with fuel tank capacity arrows. The irregular shape of the fuel tank allows you to increase its capacity without reducing the volume of the trunk.
The fuel tank in front-wheel drive vehicles is not the same shape as in four-wheel drive vehicles. This is also due to the different capacity of 60 liters (all wheel drive) and 62 l (front-wheel drive). In order to make the bottom of the trunk relatively flat with the possibility of reloading towards the passenger compartment, the fuel tank is located exactly in the rear axle area under the floor. There is a large enough «safety distance» to the rear of the vehicle in order to avoid damage in a rear impact. The fuel tank itself is made of a synthetic material that has almost unlimited molding possibilities.
Tip: Before you do any work on the fuel system, you must always disconnect the battery wire connected to «mass». Incorrect electrical connections can lead to dangerous sparks.
