1. The fuel pump is located on the left side of the engine and is driven by an eccentric on the intermediate shaft.
2. Loosen the clamps and disconnect the hose from the inlet (photo).
3. Unscrew the mounting bolts with a socket wrench, then remove the fuel pump from the cylinder block (photo).
4. Remove the seal flange and O-ring (photo).
5. The pump can be tested by connecting it to the fuel supply hose and pushing the lever by hand, directing the rotation in the desired direction. The fuel should squirt out well. If the pump is found to be defective, replace it as it is out of service.
6. Clean the connection surface, then install the pump with a new O-ring and seal flange. Make sure the lever is on top of the camshaft eccentric. Insert and tighten the mounting bolts with the tightening torque specified in the Specification (photo).
