  • 1 - shaft of the drive gear of the steering mechanism;
  • 2 - bracket;
  • 3 - bolt;
  • 4, 5 - adjusting washers;
  • 6 - spring;
  • 7 - pipe;
  • 8 - cable;
  • 9 - steering shaft;
  • 10 - screw;
  • 11 - spring ring;
  • 12 - flange (power steering);
  • 13 - ignition switch with anti-theft device;
  • 14 - bolt;
  • 15 - flange (non-power steering);
  • 16 - clamp;
  • 17 - bolt;
  • 18 - nut

Removal



1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the steering wheel (see subsection 9.2).

3. Loosen the fastening of the steering column switches through the hole located at the bottom of the steering column switch housing. Remove the steering column switches from the steering column pipe, disconnecting the pads with wires.

4. Loosen the mounting screws and remove the lower shelf from the driver's side.

5. Remove the instrument cluster (see subsection 12.1.5.15).

6. Remove the driver's footwell blower.

7. Disconnect the cable from the steering column shaft.

8. Unscrew the ignition switch (lock) housing mounting bolt with an internal hexagon through the hole in the instrument cluster panel.



9. Loosen the clamp mounting bolt, disconnecting the steering column shaft from the steering gear drive shaft. On models with a steering column without power steering, first move the protective cover.

10. Unscrew the two nuts and remove the two bolts securing the steering column to the bracket.

11. Lower the steering column a little and remove the ignition switch housing, disconnecting the pads with wires from it.

12. Remove the steering column through the hole in the instrument panel.

Installation



1. Install the steering column in reverse order.

2. Before connecting the steering column shaft to the drive pinion shaft of the steering mechanism, insert the key into the ignition switch and turn off the anti-theft device.

3. Tighten the clamp mounting bolt to a torque of 25 N·m (2.5 kgf·m), and the two steering column mounting bolts to a torque of 35 N·m (3.5 kgf·m).

4. Before installing the steering wheel, install the spring with adjusting washers if they were removed during dismantling.
