Warning: This operation is carried out by two people, in compliance with safety regulations, as the brake fluid is toxic.
The sequence for pumping the entire system:
- rear right wheel;
- rear left wheel;
- front right wheel;
- front left wheel.
If work was carried out only with the brake of one wheel, then it is enough to pump the cylinder of only this wheel.
Warning: Use only new brake fluid when topping up or replacing.
Order of execution
1. Remove dirt and dust from the air release valve on the wheel, from which air will be removed.
2. Check and, if necessary, add brake fluid to the reservoir up to the maximum mark.
3. Remove the protective cap from the air release valve and put a rubber hose on the valve head to drain the liquid.
4. Immerse the end of the hose in a clean, transparent container partially filled with brake fluid.
5. Press the brake pedal sharply 4-5 times (with an interval between pressing 1–2 s), and then, keeping the pedal depressed, unscrew the air release valve 1/2–3/4 turn. In this case, air bubbles will be visible in the liquid flowing from the hose. After the flow of fluid from the hose stops, tighten the air release valve tightly and release the brake pedal.
6. Repeat step 3 until the release of bubbles from the flowing liquid completely stops. In this case, it is necessary to monitor the level of brake fluid in the reservoir and add brake fluid to the reservoir, preventing a further decrease in the level in it.
7. Remove the hose, wipe the end of the valve and put on the cap.
8. Bleed, if necessary, the brake mechanisms of the remaining wheels.
9. Top up the brake fluid reservoir to the correct level.
Warning: If the bleeding of the brake system is not done thoroughly enough, then when you press the pedal at the end of its stroke, increased pressure will be felt «softness» pedals.
