Carrying out wheel balancing without dismantling the vehicle allows eliminating wheel vibrations caused by unbalanced brake drums, discs and decorative wheel caps.

Warning: Do not balance the front wheels when the wheels are freely suspended, i.e. when the angles in the joints reach the limit values. This can cause strong vibration and damage to the constant velocity joints and protective covers.

When balancing wheels directly on the vehicle, do not remove the balancing weights installed at the preliminary wheel balancing stage separately from the vehicle. If it is necessary to install a balancing weight of more than 28 g, it must be evenly distributed between the outer and inner sides of the wheel.

The rotation of the drive wheels is provided by the car engine.

Attention. It is prohibited to exceed the rotation speed of the drive wheels corresponding to a speed of 55 km/h according to the speedometer of the vehicle. The restriction is due to the fact that with one rotating and one stationary drive wheel, the speedometer underestimates the actual rotation speed of the wheel by half. Failure to comply with this recommendation may result in injury to personnel and damage to vehicle components.

Balancing weights

If a load greater than 85 g is required to statically balance the wheel, it must be distributed as evenly as possible between the inner and outer surfaces of the wheel.

To balance aluminum wheels, special weights with nylon-coated clamps are required. The design of these weights is adapted for mounting on thicker edges of the wheel rim. The weights are secured with a plastic hammer.

Clean the area where the load will be installed with sandpaper down to bare metal.

Wipe the mounting area for securing the load with a solution of isopropyl alcohol and water (in a 1:1 ratio). Use a clean cloth or paper towel to wipe.

Dry the prepared area with hot air. The wheel should be warm to the touch.

The adhesive side must be warmed up to room temperature. Remove the protective film from the adhesive side of the load. Do not touch the adhesive.

Place the balancing weight on the prepared area and press it down with your hand. Roll the balancing weight with a roller with a force of 70-110 N.
