Idea
The VW Iltis all-terrain vehicle, developed by Audi for the Bundeswehr for VW, was the germ of the Quattro idea. The legend tells it like this:
During a winter test drive in northern Sweden, such an Iltis with a weak engine caught up with and overtook significantly more powerful and faster Audis with front-wheel drive. The head of the chassis testing at that time initiated work on creating a "four-wheel drive car with decent power for everyday use". It is known that nothing can compare in power with an idea whose time has come, so the development continued and continued until finally the legendary Audi Quattro was presented.
