Brake test stand
- Brake testing on each axle can be performed on a standard, slow-rotating brake test stand (max. 6 km/h).
- In this case, the drive must be from a test bench.
- It is not possible to engage the gear and differential lock.
Power test bench
- Testing power on a traditional two-wheel roller dynamometer is not possible.
- A four-wheel power roller test rig must be used.
Wheels
- All four wheels must cover the same distance in one revolution (ideally, they should also have the same profile depth).
- Wheel balancing on a car (dynamic balancing) this is only possible if all four wheels are raised.
- The drive must be carried out from the car engine (not from a balancing machine). Important: Release the handbrake.
Winter tires
- Winter tires are also recommended for use on quattro vehicles. Not so much for their driving characteristics, but for their braking performance.
- Snow chains can be used where prescribed, also on quattro vehicles. Here too, the braking qualities are an argument
- Anti-skid chains are also only installed on the front wheels on quattro.
Towing
- If all four wheels roll on the ground when towing, no special instructions need to be followed.
- If one of the axles cannot roll (after the accident), then the car needs to be loaded onto a tow truck.
- If there is no such tow truck, then the Audi can be towed with a raised axle. Condition: no further than 50 km, and no faster than 50 km/h. If this limit is exceeded, damage to the transmission system is possible due to lack of lubrication.
