As early as 1985, Audi introduced the first fully galvanized bodies in large series. At the same time, the metal, galvanized on both sides, is phosphated before varnishing and additionally protected by a primer using the cataphoresis method. Voids, niches and folds in the area of the bottom are sealed by conservation with hot wax using the pouring method.
Elastic stone chip filler under top coat and elastic anti-corrosion coating as well as synthetic wheel arches provide additional protection.
