The front wheels run on double row ball bearings, while the rear wheels run on radial tapered roller bearings. They withstand more than 100,000 km with grease on the rear axle. The front wheel bearings can already attract attention much earlier due to noise. If the noise becomes stronger, for example, when turning to the right, then the defect is in the left bearing.
Firmly grasp the wheel at the top, which is on the ground, and try to move it in a perpendicular direction.
With serviceable bearings, practically no play should be felt.
If the play is noticeable, you need to ask the assistant to press the brakes hard and shake the wheel again.
If play is no longer felt, play is only present in the wheel bearing. If there is play on the braked wheel, the suspension must be checked.
If play is found in the rear wheel bearings, it can be adjusted.
Raise and support the car and check the wheel: if it moves with difficulty or jerks, then the bearing is adjusted too tight. If you hear a distinct "grinding" sound, the bearing needs to be replaced.
