MOT No. 33
The headlight is unlikely to move by itself. But if the reflector or the entire headlight was replaced at once, then it is necessary to check the installation of the headlights.
Be sure to adjust the headlights also if, as a result of an accident, the front of the car was damaged, or after installing new suspension elements. Adjustment is made as follows:
The headlight beam throw setting must be set to «ABOUT».
If one of the headlights has been damaged or replaced, it will be enough to first turn on the light if you are in the car at some distance in front of a light wall in order to compare the heights of the light beam of the new headlight with the beam of the other headlight.
If the headlight has been adjusted, then you can mark the height of the light beam, for example, on the garage wall. It is important to take into account the distance to the wall on which your car is located. So, note. With this marking, you can then, if necessary, again check the adjustment of the headlights.
The most accurate way to adjust headlights is, as before, alignment with a special adjustment device used by mechanics at a car workshop, at a gas station or at a Bosch service.
High beam headlight adjustment for 6-cylinder models will be correct if low beam headlight adjustment is correct.
Fog lamp headlight adjustment: shown on the headlight in the illustration below on the left.
At a distance of five meters from the adjustment wall, the light beams of the fog lamps must be 100 mm below the corresponding center of the headlamp. Only the height is adjustable.
Where are the adjustment screws located?
With the hood open, the headlight adjustment screws are accessible from above through holes in the top cross member of the engine compartment.
Allen keys are used for adjustment.
When adjusting the headlight beam, the height is first adjusted. And then - the lateral displacement of the headlight beam.
In the fog lights, only the height is adjustable:
Remove bumper panel (next to the fog lights).
Under it are two mounting bolts and an adjusting screw.
