Raise the car from behind.
Remove the plastic cap on the inside of the relevant wheel at the rear of the drum brake shield.
Shine a flashlight into the viewing hole.
The numbers indicate:
Left:
1 - outer lining (firmly glued);
2 - inner lining (inserted with spring latch);
3 - brake pad wear indicator wire.
On right:
1 - outer lining;
2 — a support of the disk brake mechanism;
3 - inner lining with a spring latch;
4 - shield of the brake mechanism.
An inspection hole for monitoring the thickness of the rear drum brake lining is located in the drum brake shield (3) in front in the direction of travel. When the cover is removed, the brake pad is visible (1) with a friction brake lining glued on it (2).
Pad wear is permissible up to 2.5 mm residual thickness - without carrier thickness. Otherwise, they need to be changed.
The new pads are 5.25 mm thick.
