Raise the car from behind.
Remove the plastic cap on the inside of the corresponding wheel at the rear of the drum brake shield.
Shine a flashlight into the viewing hole.
The numbers mean:
Left:
1 - outer lining (firmly glued);
2 - inner lining (inserted with a spring latch);
3 — brake pad wear indicator wire.
Right:
1 - outer lining;
2 — disc brake caliper;
3 - internal lining with spring latch;
4 — brake mechanism shield.
The inspection hole for checking the thickness of the rear drum brake linings is located in the drum brake shield (3) at the front in the direction of travel. When the cover is removed, the brake shoe (1) with the friction brake lining (2) glued to it is visible.
Pad wear is permissible up to 2.5 mm of residual thickness - without carrier thickness. Otherwise, they must be replaced.
The new pads are 5.25mm thick.
