1. Whenever the brake drums are removed, they should be checked for wear and damage. Slight wear of the friction surface is acceptable, but if it is excessive or if the inside diameter exceeds the specified wear limit, the drum and hub assembly must be replaced.
2. After a long run, the friction surface may become oval. If this happens, it is possible to regrind the surface. However, it is preferable to replace the hub assembly and drum.
