Make sure the automatic transmission is in a perfectly horizontal position.
Loosen the locknut and adjusting bolt.
Apply sealant to the bolt and tighten to 1.0 kgf·m
Unscrew the bolt again and tighten it with a torque of 0.5 kgf·m
Loosen the adjusting bolt exactly 2½ turns and tighten the locknut.
Since August 1988, the automatic gearbox control mechanism has been changed. The new device does not allow starting the engine if the selector lever is not in position «N» - neutral or «R» - parking.
For greater safety, the selector lever is locked in position «R» an additional locking device that releases the selector lever only after pressing the brake pedal.
