The procedure is basically the same as for the 014 gearbox described in Chapter 11. However, after checking the return distance of 1st gear, engage 5th gear and move the lever to the right as far as possible. Fix the gearshift lever with one finger and allow it to slowly spring back to the pressure point.
The return distance should be the same as for the 1st gear position and, on these gearboxes, should be at least 5 mm. If the movement is not the same in both positions, move the gearshift bearing within the elongated holes: to the right for more movement with 5th gear engaged, or to the left for more movement with 1st gear engaged.
If the gear selection is still unsatisfactory, the adjustment should be checked by an Audi dealer.
