Note: The master cylinder is a non-separable assembly and cannot be repaired. If the master cylinder breaks, the block must be replaced. On models equipped with an anti-lock braking system, follow the Chapter 28 before starting work.
1. Remove the tank filler cap, aspirate the liquid using a syringe or a flexible plastic bottle. Do not spill liquid on the painted surface of the vehicle. If liquid is spilled, immediately flush the area with plenty of cold water.
2. Install the filler cap, disconnect the alarm lamp wiring.
3. Where available, separate the hydraulic clutch hose from the side of the reservoir (photo).
4. Place a rag under the cylinder, unscrew the brake pipe coupling nuts and disconnect the pipes from the master cylinder (photo).
5. Turn off assembly bolts, get the main cylinder from the hydraulic booster block. Remove the O-ring. Do not depress the brake pedal with the master cylinder removed.
6. Installation is carried out in reverse order, always install a new O-ring. Bleed the hydraulic system as described in Chapter 17.
