On models with a 5-cylinder engine and KE-111-Jetronic injection system, as well as with a 4-cylinder engine and KE-Motronic injection system (with a power of 85 kW and produced up to 6/92 with the designation «AAD») the fuel accumulator is located at the bottom on the protective flange of the fuel tank. By means of the spring force, the fuel pressure in the pipeline leading to the engine is maintained here while the engine and the fuel pump are turned off. The point of all this is that by the time the engine is restarted, the fuel is immediately supplied at the right pressure. In addition, the fuel accumulator balances the difference in pressure on the pump side.
