Pic. 2–14. Elements of fastening of the fuel filter of the diesel V6 TDI engine: 1 – a stopper of an opening for removal of water, 4 Nm; 2, 3 – fuel supply hoses; 4 - spring clip; 5 - nut; 6 - control valve
Unscrew plug 1 of the hole to remove water from the fuel filter (see fig. 2–14).
Do not allow diesel fuel to enter the cooling system hoses. Hoses that have been exposed to diesel fuel for a long time must be replaced.
Pic. 2–15. Connecting a manual vacuum pump VAG 1390 with a container equipped with a water drain cock VAG 1390/1 to the fuel filter port on a V6 TDI diesel engine
Connect the hose of the manual vacuum pump VAG 1390 with a container equipped with a tap for draining water VAG 1390/1 to the hole on the fuel filter (pic. 2–15).
Use a vacuum pump to suck out about 100 cm3 of fluid from the fuel filter.
Disconnect the hand vacuum pump hose from the water drain hole on the fuel filter.
Screw the plug into fuel filter and tighten it to 4 Nm.
Start the engine and check for leaks in the fuel system.
