TO #27
The exhaust system is bolted to the gearbox at the exhaust manifold using a bracket. Under the car's bottom, it is secured loosely on rubber pads.
Check the rubber cushions for wear, tears or other damage; replace the cushions if necessary.
Check the tightening of the bolts on the exhaust manifold (30 Nm) and on the gearbox bracket (25 Nm), but do not apply excessive force.
With the engine running, cover the exhaust tip with a rag, holding it in your hands. After a short time, the engine should stall.
If you hear a hissing sound and the engine continues to run, then the exhaust system where the sound is coming from is leaking.
A lower than normal exhaust noise and loud popping sounds when coasting indicate corroded exhaust pipes.
Mufflers start to rust at the welding points (connections). If they are to hold on for some time, they should not be destroyed by light tapping with a screwdriver in these places.
