Order of execution
1. Check the condition of the rubber brackets for brittleness, cracks or other damage, replace if necessary.
2. Check the strength of the screw connections of the exhaust pipe and turbocharger (30 Nm) and mountings on the gearbox (25 Nm), but don't do it with force.
3. Close the muffler with a rag in your hand (And) with the engine running. After a short time, the engine should stop.
4. If you hear hissing sounds and the engine continues to run, then the system is leaking at the hissing point.
5. A duller than usual exhaust sound and clicks when shifting gears indicate a rusted exhaust system.
6. The exhaust system is subject to the danger of corrosion, especially in the connecting seams. If this area withstands the test with a light tapping of a screwdriver, then it will withstand some more time.
The arrows show the screw connections of the exhaust pipe elbow with the cylinder head of the engine with a working volume of 1.6 liters.
