The petrol level is displayed on the dashboard. Thus, the fuel level indicator is nothing more than a voltmeter, the full voltage to which is supplied when the ignition is on. In order for the voltage to be constant, a preliminary voltage stabilizer is connected to the electrical circuit, which we will talk about later.

The movement of the fuel indicator needle is varied by contact with the "ground". This is provided by the fuel quantity sensor, the resistance of which changes upward or downward depending on the filling of the tank. Removal of the fuel quantity indicator sensor is described in the chapter "Fuel tank and fuel pump".

Malfunctions

Too high or too low level: the voltage stabilizer is faulty (how to remove it is described at the beginning of the chapter, in the section "Disassembly", or the fuel quantity indicator is incorrectly adjusted (see next section).

No indicators: the voltage stabilizer is faulty, or the sensor in the gas tank, or the indicator.

On the left front of the gearbox we see the plug of the reverse light switch (1) and the speedometer pulse sensor (2). To remove the speedometer pulse sensor, after pressing the safety bracket, disconnect the plug (3), press the latch down (arrow), turn the pulse sensor and pull it out.

Left: To adjust the fuel gauge as described below, turn the adjustment wheel (arrow).

Left: To adjust the fuel gauge as described below, turn the adjustment wheel (arrow).

Right: To avoid having to disassemble the instrument cluster, it is shown here how to turn the wheel (2) using the needle (1). The needle must enter the instrument cluster from the rear.

Adjusting the fuel quantity indicator

Empty the fuel tank to the last drop.

Pour exactly 4 liters of fuel into the tank.

Turn on the ignition and wait 2 minutes.

The indicator arrow should now be at the first large column of the red reserve field.

If this is not the case, you can adjust the indicator with the small adjustment screw on the bottom left of the device.

Remove the black plug next to the mileage reset button using small pliers and turn the set screw with an Allen key.

Checking the fuel quantity indicator sensor

Fold back the luggage compartment trim, unscrew the black cover, and disconnect the multi-pin plug located underneath.

Connect the auxiliary wire to the plug connector of the purple-black wire and short it to ground.

Turn on the ignition briefly: if the indicator needle moves completely, the wiring and the indicator itself are OK. If the needle does not move, the sensor in the fuel tank is faulty.

If the arrow remains in the "empty tank" position, then the cause of the malfunction should be sought in the wiring, voltage stabilizer or device. The sensor itself in this case is most likely OK.
