The factory carburetor adjustment should not be violated. The fuel consumption and the power developed by the engine directly depend on the correct carburetor adjustment and ignition timing. Violation of the correct adjustment may lead to mechanical failures.

Air Filter Maintenance Frequency

Clean the air filter every 45,000 km and replace it every 30,000 km. When driving on dusty roads, clean the filter element more often.

To replace the filter element in an engine with a fuel injection system:
  • unfasten the four ties and separate the dispenser-distributor unit with the filter from the console;
  • release the four clamps and carefully lift up the dispenser-distributor assembly with the air filter cover;
  • lower the filter housing and remove the filter element;
  • when installing the filter in place, insert the filter element into the filter housing and use ties to secure it to the console, while the bottoms of the mounting pins should enter the corresponding rubber sockets on the side panel of the engine compartment opening;
  • slide the dispenser-distributor assembly with the filter cover onto the filter body and fasten the remaining ties;
  • check the reliability of the filter parts fastening.

Cleaning the filter element of engines of all models

The removed cardboard filter element is cleaned by blowing with a jet of compressed air under a pressure of no more than 0.5 atm. It is prohibited to use gasoline or oils for cleaning.

Spark plugs

Check the condition of the spark plugs every 15,000 km. Replace the spark plugs in a timely manner, at least every 30,000 km.

Remove spark plugs only with a special spark plug wrench to avoid damaging the ceramic insulator.

Adjust the gap between the spark plug electrodes by bending only the side electrode (minus).

When installing the spark plug, first screw it in by hand to avoid damaging the threads in the cylinder head, and then tighten it with a spark plug wrench.
