On vehicles not equipped with an on-board monitoring system (BSC), the lamp is located in the instrument cluster between the speedometer and tachometer and lights up when the ignition is turned on. It should go out after starting the engine.
If the lamp does not go out or starts flashing when the car is moving, the following malfunctions are possible:
- overheating of the coolant;
- deviation from the normal level of the coolant.
In this case:
- stop the car and turn off the ignition;
- Let the engine cool down and check the fluid level in the expansion tank.
If the fluid level is normal, but the lamp continues to burn, contact a service station.
If the malfunction is caused by a malfunction of the fan, you can drive to the nearest service station on your own, provided that the liquid level is normal and the control lamp goes out. Do not leave the engine idling and drive at a speed that allows the engine to be cooled by oncoming airflow.
