2. Disconnect the inner tie rod ends, see. Chapter 20, paragraph 3.
3. Where present, remove the bolt securing the steering damper to the steering linkage.
4. Loosen and remove the bolt securing the flange pipe to the steering gear pinion, knock the flange pipe out of the gear.
5. On models equipped with power steering, place a container under the steering gear, remove the union nut and bolt, separate the hydraulic feed and return pipes, and remove the gaskets.
6. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the steering gear through the opening in the wing.
7. Installation is the reverse of the above. Use a new lock plate when installing the tie rod bolts. Tighten all nuts and bolts to Specification and, on power steering models, fill or top up the reservoir with hydraulic fluid as described in Chapter 25.
