1. Apply the handbrake, jack up the front of the car, secure it on axle stands. Remove wheels.
2. Disconnect the inner tie rod ends, see Chapter 20, paragraph 3.
3. Where available, remove the bolt securing the steering damper to the tie rod mount.
4. Unscrew and remove the bolt securing the flanged pipe to the steering gear, knock the flanged pipe out of the transmission.
5. On models equipped with power steering, place a container under the steering gear, remove the union nut and bolt, separate the hydraulic feed and return pipes. Remove the pads.
6. Turn off assembly bolts, get steering transfer through an aperture in a wing.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Use a new stop plate when installing the tie rod bolts. Tighten all nuts and bolts to the specified torque and, on power steering models, fill or top up the reservoir with hydraulic fluid as described in Chapter 25.
