1. Apply the handbrake, jack up the front of the car, secure it on axle stands. Remove the wheel.
2. Unscrew the ball joint nut from the outer end of the link (photo).
3. At the inner end of the connecting rod, smooth out the lock plate, unscrew the bolt, remove the rod. If you need to remove another link, first install the unscrewed bolt, otherwise it will be difficult to tighten them.
4. When replacing the tie rod end, measure the distance between the two ends before unscrewing the old end, then screw in the new one the same distance, otherwise the front wheel alignment will be disturbed.
5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order, replace the lock plate. Tighten the nuts and bolts to the torque specified in Specifications, do not clamp the inner tie rod mounts until the vehicle is on suspension. Lock the bolts by bending the lock plate by one washer. Check and, if necessary, adjust the front wheel alignment as described in Chapter 29.
