Steering Gear Boot Replacement (Audi 100 C3)

1. Remove the steering gear as described in Chapter 21.

2. On power steering models, remove the two hydraulic bungee fittings at the end of the steering gear, remove the washers.

3. Release the protective cover fastening clips, remove the steering rod hanger, pull the protective cover off the end of the steering gear.

4. Install the new boot in the reverse order of removal. On direct acting steering models, position the boot 200mm from the end of the rack, then secure with the clamp.
