Place the front of the vehicle on stands.
Remove the drain plug and drain the oil from the engine.
Remove the lower engine cover by disconnecting the quick-release fasteners.
Remove the oil pan and the gasket from the engine crankcase if it is stuck to it.
The oil pan is installed in the reverse order of removal. Please note the following:
Always use a new gasket. Do not apply grease or sealant to the sealing surfaces of the oil pan or crankcase. The gasket must also be installed dry.
Make sure that the gasket and pan are properly aligned and that the gasket does not shift.
Tighten the bolts evenly in a criss-cross pattern. Tighten the hex bolts to 2 Nm in two passes.
Fill the engine with the required amount of oil of the required grade. It is necessary to take into account the time of year. All-season oil must comply with the VW 501 01 standard and at very low temperatures must have a viscosity of SAE 5W20, and at very high temperatures - a viscosity of SAE 20W50. It should be borne in mind that good quality oil extends the service life of the engine. Do not overfill under any circumstances, as this will lead to failure of the catalyst.
