The oil pan can be removed with the engine installed. Operations are described for all engines. Any deviations are listed separately.
Place the vehicle in front on jack stands.
Remove the drain plug and drain the engine oil.
Remove the lower engine cover by disengaging the quick-release fasteners.
Remove the oil pan and gasket from the engine crankcase if it is stuck to it.
Installation of the oil pallet is made in an order, the return to removal. You should pay attention to the following:
Always use a new gasket. Do not apply grease or sealant to the sealing surfaces of the oil pan or crankcase. The gasket is also installed dry.
Make sure that the gasket and pan are correctly aligned and that the gasket does not move.
Tighten the bolts evenly in a diagonal pattern. Tighten the hexagon bolts to 2 Nm in two passes.
Pour the required amount of oil of the required grade into the engine. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the time of year. Multigrade oil must comply with the VW 501 01 standard and at very low temperatures must have a viscosity of SAE 5W20, and at very high temperatures - a viscosity of SAE 20W50. Keep in mind that good quality oil prolongs the life of the engine. In no case do not overfill, because. this will damage the catalytic converter.
