Disconnect the wire from the indicator lamp switch
To check the oil pressure, use the Audi pressure gauge. You need to do the following:
Unscrew the control lamp switch and screw in the VAG-1342 pressure gauge used by VW/Audi.
1 Blue wire
2 Brown wire
3 LED VAG 1527
4 Manometer
Connect the brown wire (2) to ground.
Insert the blue wire (1) into the indicator lamp switch.
Connect the LED (3) or test lamp on the wire (1) to the negative terminal of the battery (AB).
Turn on the ignition.
Check if the lamp lights up. If not, you need to replace the switch.
Start the engine and monitor the pressure gauge. At 1.2-1.6 bar, the test lamp should go out. Otherwise, replace the switch.
Checking oil pressure
Unscrew the oil pressure indicator light switch and screw it into the pressure gauge.
Start the engine and check that the pressure gauge reading is between 1.0 and 2.5 bar when the engine is idling. The temperature should be at least 80°C.
Increase the speed to 3000 rpm. The oil pressure should increase to 3-5 bar for 4- and 5-cylinder engines and to 4.5-6.0 bar for 6-cylinder engines.
If the specified values are not achieved, then the cause of the low pressure must be found.
