Checking the oil pressure sensor

Check conditions: Oil level is normal, check. Oil temperature minimum 80°C (the cooling system fan should operate at least once). Remove the oil pressure sensor "F1". Connect the pressure gauge to the hole for the oil pressure sensor. Screw the oil pressure sensor "pos. 2" into the hole in the pressure gauge. Connect the brown wire "1" of the pressure gauge to the "ground" (-). Connect the voltage tester "VAG 1527B" using auxiliary wires from the auxiliary measuring equipment set "VAG 1594C" to the oil pressure sensor "F1" and the positive terminal of the battery (+). The tester LED should not light.

If the LED lights up, the oil pressure sensor "F1" should be replaced. Monitor the tester and LED during engine start-up, as the sensor's switching point may already be exceeded during start-up. At an excess pressure of 0.55-0.85 bar, the LED should light up. If the LED does not light up, replace the oil pressure sensor "F1".

Checking oil pressure

Oil pressure at idle: not less than 0.8 bar. Oil pressure at 2000 rpm: not less than 2.0 bar.
