2. Warm up the engine to operating temperature. To do this, drive the vehicle until the radiator fan turns on and then turns off again.
3. Diesel engine 1.9 l: Remove the engine top cover, refer to Section Removal and installation of the upper engine cover / lower protection of the engine compartment / subframe.
4. Remove the oil pressure sensor (2) on the oil filter flange and screw in the tester (A).
5. Screw the instrument into the oil filter holder instead of the pressure sensor.
6. Connect brown wire (1) device with mass (-).
7. Connect a test diode lamp to the positive terminal of the battery (+) and to the oil pressure switch. The LED should not light up.
8. If the LED lights up, replace the oil pressure switch.
If the LED does not light up
1. Start the engine.
Caution: Watch the LED while starting the starter, as The switching point of the pressure sensor can already be passed at start-up.
2. Gas engine: At an oil pressure of 1.2 - 1.6 atm. the LED should light up, otherwise the pressure sensor must be replaced.
3. Diesel engine 1.9 l: At an oil pressure of 0.55 - 0.85 atm. the LED should light up, otherwise the pressure sensor must be replaced.
4. Diesel engine 2.5L: At an oil pressure of 0.75 - 1.05 atm. the LED should light up, otherwise the pressure sensor must be replaced.
Oil pressure check
1. Run the engine to idle. Read the oil pressure value from the instrument and compare it with the value given in Specifications.
2. Increase the speed to 2000 rpm. Read the oil pressure value from the instrument and compare it with the value given in Specifications.
If the required oil pressure is not reached
1. Check for mechanical damage in the engine, such as damage to the crankshaft bearings (service station work).
2. If necessary, replace the oil filter holder with safety valve or the oil pump.
Caution: When increasing the engine speed, the oil pressure should not exceed 7.0 atm. Otherwise, check the oil passages. If necessary, replace the oil filter holder with relief valve.
3. Diesel engine 1.9 l: Reinstall the engine top cover.
