1. Check the engine oil level and top up if necessary.
2. Warm up the engine to operating temperature. To do this, drive the car until the radiator fan turns on and then turns off again.
3. Diesel engine 1.9 l: Remove the top engine cover, refer to Section Removal and installation the upper engine cover/lower engine compartment protection/subframe.
4. Unscrew the oil pressure sensor (2) on the oil filter flange and screw in the testing device (A).

5. Screw the device into the oil filter holder instead of the pressure sensor.
6. Connect the brown wire (1) of the device to ground (-).
7. Connect the test LED lamp to the positive battery terminal (+) and to the oil pressure switch. The LED should not light.
8. If the LED lights up, replace the oil pressure switch.
If the LED does not light up
1. Start the engine.
Caution: When cranking the starter, watch the LED, because the pressure sensor switch-on point may already be passed during cranking.
2. Petrol engine: At oil pressure of 1.2 – 1.6 atm. the LED should light up, otherwise the pressure sensor must be replaced.
3. Diesel engine 1.9 l: At oil pressure of 0.55 - 0.85 atm. the LED should light up, otherwise the pressure sensor must be replaced.
4. Diesel engine 2.5 l: At oil pressure of 0.75 – 1.05 atm. the LED should light up, otherwise the pressure sensor must be replaced.
Checking oil pressure
1. Start the engine at idle speed. Read the oil pressure value from the instrument and compare it with the value given in Specifications.
2. Increase the speed to 2000 rpm. Read the oil pressure value from the instrument and compare it with the value given in Specifications.
If the required oil pressure value is not achieved
1. Check for mechanical damage to the engine, such as damage to the crankshaft bearings (work of the service station).
2. If necessary, replace the oil filter holder with relief valve or the oil pump.
Warning: When the engine speed increases, the oil pressure should not exceed 7.0 atm. Otherwise, check the oil passages. If necessary, replace the oil filter holder with the safety valve.
3. Diesel engine 1.9 l: Replace the top engine cover.
