Pressure gauge used to check engine oil pressure and oil pressure sensor performance
- A - oil pressure sensor
- 3 - pressure gauge ground wire
To check, a pressure gauge is required, which can be screwed in instead of the oil pressure gauge sensor. The oil pressure gauge sensor is located on the oil filter holder.
Order of execution
1. Check oil level, top up if necessary.
2. Start and warm up the engine. The oil temperature should be around +80°C. This temperature is reached when the coolant temperature gauge shows normal operating temperature.
3. Turn out the relay (A) from the oil filter holder and screw it into the pressure gauge.
4. Screw a pressure gauge into the engine instead of the pressure indicator sensor.
5. Connect to ground (–) brown wire -3 - control device AUDI (V.A.G 1342).
6. Connect the diode test lamp with the auxiliary wire to the positive cable (+) battery.
7. Start the engine and slowly raise the speed. When the oil pressure set for this engine is reached (refer to Specifications) the LED should go out, otherwise replace the pressure indicator sensor.
8. Increase engine speed. At 2000 rpm and an oil temperature of +80°C, the oil pressure must be at least 2.0 bar
9. Lower oil pressure indicates damage to the oil pressure valve, oil pump, or worn crankshaft bearings.
10. When the engine speed is increased, the oil pressure must not exceed 7.0 bar. Otherwise, the oil pressure valve must be replaced.
11. Install the pressure indicator sensor and secure it with a torque of 25 Nm. Replace the sealing ring if the tightness is broken.
