To remove the air filter element, do the following:
- Remove the air intake hose from the air filter housing and from the front air intake.
- Pull the solenoid valve for the activated charcoal filter system out of the holder and put it aside without removing the hoses.
- On non-turbocharged vehicles, unfasten the four spring clips and remove the housing cover. The connected hose can remain on it. Take out the filter element.
- For turbocharged engines, remove the heat shield and release the thin wire. Remove the fastening tape on the air hose and remove the hose.
- Release the four spring clips.
- Disconnect the plug from the temperature sensor, from the output stage of the ignition system and from the air mass meter (under the rubber bushing). If necessary, cut the wire ties.
- Take out the filter element. First, beat the contaminated element on a wooden block to remove large contaminants. If compressed air is available, blow through the filter element without directing the air jet directly onto the filter material.
- The filter is installed in the reverse order of removal.
