Periodic oil and oil filter changes are the most important preventative maintenance procedure. As engine oil ages, it becomes thin and contaminated, leading to premature engine wear.

Before starting this procedure, gather all the necessary tools and materials together. It is necessary that the engine is warm so that the oil flows better together with the bulk of the contaminants.

When changing oil, do not replace one type of oil with another, as this will negatively affect the durability of the engine. Motor oils of different brands should not be mixed if possible. Motor oils of the same type and brand, but of different viscosity, can be added to the engine if necessary.

Necessary wearing parts and materials
  • After draining the oil, a new sealing ring must be used when installing the drain plug (copper or aluminum), which can be supplied with an oil filter.
  • Oil filter. The 2.5-I-TDI engine requires a filter element and two sealing rings for the oil filter cover.
  • Depending on the engine, from 3.5 to 7.0 liters of engine oil.
