Since the oil spreads over a large area, it is difficult to determine the leak location at first glance. To find it, it is advisable to perform the following steps.
- Cover the generator with a plastic bag, wash and dry the engine.
- Spray lime or talc powder onto areas where oil leaks may occur.
- Check the engine oil level and top it up if necessary.
- Test drive the engine for about 30 km on a highway. Since the oil in a warm engine becomes thinner, it will flow through the leak faster.
- Inspect the engine with a lamp, locate the leak and fix it.
