  • Finding Oil Leaks
            0
If there are leaks and increased engine oil consumption, check the following areas of the engine:
  • open the oil filler cap and check the cap gasket for porosity and damage;
  • the crankcase ventilation system, in particular the fastening of the crankcase ventilation hose to the cylinder head cover;
  • cylinder head cover gasket;
  • cylinder head gasket;
  • oil drain plug;
  • gasket on the oil filter flange;
  • oil pan gasket;
  • front and rear crankshaft seal rings.

Since the oil spreads over a large area, it is difficult to determine the leak location at first glance. To find it, it is advisable to perform the following steps.
  • Cover the generator with a plastic bag, wash and dry the engine.
  • Spray lime or talc powder onto areas where oil leaks may occur.
  • Check the engine oil level and top it up if necessary.
  • Test drive the engine for about 30 km on a highway. Since the oil in a warm engine becomes thinner, it will flow through the leak faster.
  • Inspect the engine with a lamp, locate the leak and fix it.
