With the Digifant injection system, no adjustment work is required because the system is self-learning. This means that the control unit adjusts the idle speed if necessary. Only in doubtful cases is the so-called basic adjustment carried out. This is not done by tightening the adjusting bolts, but with the aid of the already mentioned VAG 1551 fault memory reader after the fault memory has first been interrogated. Standard values for idle speed or CO content (test conditions: engine operating temperature, disconnection of all electrical consumers and correct setting of ignition timing) this:
Speed in idling mode: 820±50 rpm.
Exhaust gas CO test: 0.6-1.0% (cO measurement in the measuring tube).
If you have received other readings, you need to check the vacuum hoses and the electromagnetic valve of the fuel evaporation system, and query the fault memory.
Note: Everything you need to know about exhaust gas analysis, checking the operation of the catalytic converter, checking the lambda probe and the accelerator cable can be found in the previous chapter "Mono-Motronic injection system".
Routine testing of the catalytic converter and lambda probe is carried out in the workshop as described for the Mono-Motronic injection system. When troubleshooting, the lambda probe is tested using the method described above for the Digifant injection system.
