Replacing fuses
If one of the fuses needs to be replaced, you can use the small plastic pliers attached to the cover of the central switchgear to disconnect (on the left side of the instrument panel).
If the new fuse immediately blows again, check to see if a fuse that is too weak has been installed (see fuse table).
If the fuse has been selected correctly, it is necessary to identify the connected current consumers on the basis of the fuse table and check each of them individually. An appropriate wiring diagram will also help (see next chapter).
In case of doubt, disconnect all consumers and connect them one after the other one by one. The consumer, when connected to which the fuse blows, is defective.
Additional fuses
On certain versions with additional equipment, additional fuses are located in the auxiliary relay box I at the rear left in the engine compartment. In this case, we often talk about so-called thermal fuses. These are fuses that, after overloading the electrical circuit, interrupt the current in it for a certain time, and then restore the connection again.
The illustration shows a fuse box (3) on the left side of the dashboard. On the cover of the fuse box, a brief description of the location of the fuses is given (2). Also small plastic tongs (1), located there serve to remove the fuses.
The small numbers in the illustration show the fuse numbers under which they are indicated in the fuse table below.
The fuses for the ignition and injection system are located in the ignition system unit under the floor near the feet of the passenger sitting in the front seat next to the driver.
