In order to prevent the Audi from being completely de-energized in the event of a defect, fuses are integrated into various electrical circuits. Although the electrical circuits between the battery, alternator, starter and ignition switch are not controlled by fuses.
Replacing fuses
1. If one of the plug-in fuses needs to be replaced, you can use the small plastic pliers attached to the lid of the fuse box for this purpose (on the left side of the dashboard).
2. Pay attention to the smaller fuses in the Audi A4 (miniature fusible), than previous models.
3. If the new fuse blows immediately, find out if the fuse is too weak.
4. If this is not the case, use the fuse table to identify the connected consumers and check them one by one. An appropriate electrical circuit will help you with this.
5. If in doubt, disconnect all consumers and reconnect one by one. The consumer, upon connection of which the fuse will blow, was faulty.
Additional fuses
With certain upgrades, the auxiliary fuses are located on the 8-gang auxiliary relay carrier on the left under the dashboard. In this case, most often we are talking about the so-called thermal fuses. These are fuses that, when an electrical circuit is overloaded, interrupt the flow of current for a certain time, and then restore the connection again.
Inside in lining (3) on the left side of the dashboard there are small plastic pliers in the clip (2) in order to remove the fuses, and the crank (4) for emergency operation of the sliding roof. The figure below shows the location of the fuses in the box (1).
