Checking the thermostat (Audi 100 C3)

Some models are equipped with a thermostat (see Fig. Air filter parts) to control the supply of cold or warm air to the engine.

Execution order

1. Loosen the clamps and disconnect the hot and cold air supply hoses from the thermostat.

2. Loosen the clamp and remove the thermostat.

3. Place the working part of the thermostat in warm water (approximately 20°C) for 2 minutes. The valve in the thermostat should turn and close the cold air supply opening. If this does not happen, replace the thermostat.
