Checking the starting injector (Audi 100 C3)

Check the starting nozzle (see Fig. Main elements of the fuel injection system) on a cold engine (coolant temperature below 30°C) with a fully charged battery.

Execution order

1. Disconnect the central wire from the ignition distributor and short it to ground.

2. Loosen the mounting bolts and disconnect the fuel lines from the regulator and injector.

3. Unscrew the two bolts and remove the injector and gasket from the engine intake pipe.

4. Connect the fuel line to the injector. Turn on the starter for 10 sec. The injector should spray fuel in the form of a cone during the engine start time. If these conditions are not met, replace the injector.

5. Install the injector in reverse order, replacing the gasket.
