Execution order
1. Place chocks under the front wheels.
2. Raise and support the rear of the vehicle.
3. Knock off the hub nut protective cap with a rubber-tipped hammer.
4. Remove the cotter pin and remove the hub nut retainer.
5. Tighten the hub nut until it stops, turning the wheel to adjust the hub bearings. Then slightly loosen the nut until the washer can be moved by hand with a screwdriver. It is not allowed to use the screwdriver as a lever, resting it on the hub flange.
6. Install the retainer and cotter pin. To align the hole in the journal for the cotter pin and the slot in the retainer, the hub nut only needs to be tightened.
7. Add grease to the hub nut protective cap to two-thirds of its capacity and press it into place using a suitable mandrel. Crumpled or cracked protective caps must be replaced (to prevent dirt and moisture from getting into the hub).
